Code of Ordinances

Process of Codification
Once an ordinance is proposed, discussed, read twice (at two separate City Council meetings) and approved upon second reading by City Council, it is officially passed and signed by the mayor and city clerk (see KRS 83A.060). The ordinance is then published and codified. The codification process extracts necessary information and compiles and organizes it in a way that makes it legally presentable in document form. The original is still the "official" ordinance, but the ''chapter and verse'' codified ordinance is what is most commonly referenced.

2017-1727 - An ordinance of the City of Murray, Kentucky annexing 0.387 acres, specifically being Lot 2 of Sherwood Forest Subdivision, Unit 3, Block "C" located at 255 King Richard Drive, owned by Roger Haney and 0.098 acres being adjacent portion of King Richard Drive right of way for a total of 0.485 acres.

2017-1733 - An ordinance amending City of Murray Code of Ordinances, 73 Special Vehicles, specifically 73.02 Operation Within Confines of City Park; and 73.99 Penalty in order to improve and modify the provisions addressing special vehicles within the City of Murray.
2017-1734 - An ordinance amending the City of Murray Code of Ordinances, Chapter 74 Railroads, specifically 74.03 Restricting Operations and Portions of Right-Of-Way Traversed By Highways and Streets; 74.04 Operations, Signals; 74.06 Trains Blocking Traffic; and 74.99 Penalty in order to improve, modify, and revise the provisions addressing railroads within the City of Murray.
2017-1735 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 794 of the City of Murray Code of Ordinances so as to zone a 0.387 acre tract of land located at 255 King Richard Drive owned by Roger Haney, along with a 0.098 acre portion of County right-of-way for a total of 0.485 acre as R-2 (Single-Family Residential).
2017-1736 - An ordinance accepting a new street into the City's public street system, being approximately 449 feet in length, having a dedicated right-of-way of 50 feet in width, known as Octane Drive, for maintenance purposes.
2017-1737 - An ordinance accepting a new street into the City's public street system, being 425 feet in length, having a dedicated right-of-way of 50 feet in width, known as Deerfield Run, for maintenance purposes.
2017-1738 - An ordinance adopting the City of Murray, Kentucky, annual budget for the period July 1, 2017, through June 20, 2018, for the General Fund; Cemetery Fund; Alcoholic Beverage Control; Municipal Aid Tax Fund; E-911 Fund; Court Award Fund; Local Government Economic Assistance Fund; Murray Natural Gas System; Murray Water and Sewer System; Murray Stormwater System; Sanitation, Transfer Station, and Central Garage Division; by estimating revenues and appropriating funds for the operations of City Government.
2017-1739 - An ordinance closing an undeveloped street, in whole, being fifty feet (50') in width with a cul-de-sac, referenced as King's Court upon the plat of Chapel Hill Estates, a re-plat of lots seven (7) and eight (8) of Chapel Hill Estates recorded on August 23, 1974, in Plat Book 4, Page 7, in the Calloway County Court Clerk's Office, being situated entirely within real property owned by Jennifer K. Crouse.
2017-1740 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2017-1738 which adopted the 2017-2018 City of Murray, Kentucky annual budget by restating certain revenues and expenditures for the City of Murray Operations Budget.
2017-1741 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2016-1705, an ordinance which adopted the FY 2017 City of Murray, Kentucky Annual Budget by restating certain revenues and expenditures for the City of Murray Operations Budget.
2017-1742 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2017-1738, an ordinance which adopted the FY 2018 City of Murray, Kentucky annual budget by restating certain revenues and expenditures for the City of Murray Operations Budget.
2017-1743 - An ordinance creating a new Chapter 75 regarding the imposition and administration of an occupational license tax requirement of one percent (1%) on gross earnings of an employee working and rendering services to an employer or business entity for compensation within the City of Muray. This ordinance shall be effective January 1, 2018.
2017-1744 - An ordinance repealing in its entirety Chapter 71, Secdtions 71.01, 71.02, 71.03, 71.04, 71.05, 71.06, 71.07, 71.08 and 71.99 of the City of Murray Code of Ordinances, titled Licensing which relates to city stickers. This ordinance shall be effective June 1, 2018.
2017-1745 - An ordinance amending Chapter 96: Taxation, specifically Chapter 96.03 Ad Valorem Tax for the purporse of adopting the annual county assessment for property situated within the City as a basis for Ad Valorem tax levies.
2017-1746 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2017-1738, an ordinance which adopted the 2017-2018 City of Murray, Kentucky Annual Budget by restating certain revenues and expenditures for the City of Murray Operations Budget.
2017-1747 - An ordinance amending City of Murray Code of Ordinances Chapter 112 Insurance Companies, specifically 112.02 Payment of License Tax, in order to reduce the Insurance Premium Tax percentage.
2017-1748 - An ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2017-1748, an ordinance which adopted the FY 2018 City of Murray, Kentucky annual budget by restating certain revenues and expenditures for the City of Murray operations budget.
